I'm not 'in the know' so I had not heard that Nvidia was no longer the best option. The old mantra I remember was "choose nvidia because they support opensource / linux". My card is old, Quadro K620. It's all I need. On my recent fresh install of Trixie 13.3, the install defaulted to nouveau. I think I'll leave it at that. I'm planning a hardware change to a lower wattage system than my T5500. But It's good to know that nvidia cards are problematic these days.
