In general, the Linux desktop user is a small percentage of a small percentage so the amount of influence is small. What support we do get trickles down from servers and embedded systems. Some OEM's are way better than others and some totally ignore the Linux user. The best option is to support the manufacturers that support Linux. Better yet, support open hardware.
