I think the best way is to use Clonezilla.
Debatable, but clonezilla should work fine. I think using dd from a live image like System Rescue would give you a few more options just in case things went south.
But the bigger concern is, will it boot?
No reason why it wouldn't.
And how to repair it if it doesnt?
This is why I'm recommending dd instead of clonezilla. Repairing the device would require chrooting into the machine and reinstalling grub, which is something you can't do with clonezilla. clonezilla can eliminate the requirement to resize partitions, though.
