Debian 12.5 is installed on an USB key.
That would be a good reason for it taking forever to do something, USB keys are not really the ideal for lots of random access of many tiny files that will be occurring. As has been said the current kernel is three versions ahead of that one get rid of it with apt remove --purge linux-image--6.1.0-18-amd64 then apt update and apt upgrade to install the latest software available.
