What kernel images does update-grub mention finding?
What's in your /boot/grub/grub.cfg afterwards? Does it mention the 6.1.x kernel?
Is /boot a separate partition, and if so, is it mounted?
What does Lubuntu have to do with anything? Is this a dual-boot?
If it is dual boot, which OS do you intend to handle the bootloader?
