The OP is not that technical of a post that they need to be re-directed elsewhere. I use Android and from our last 'Which Mobile Vendor device do you use?' Survey it seems we have a fair amount of Android users, it can be surmised that most of them being concerned with authoritative overwatch from the Play store, likely use F-droid. I do.F-droid.org has it's own forums, I think you get better answers there.
