So not sure the issue can be attributed to the openvpn upgrade or not, but the change appears to be some lines removed from I had followed instructions from https://www.server-world.info/en/note?o ... penvpn&f=1https://www.server-world.info/en/note?os=Debian_12&p=openvpn&f=1
these were the lines I had to put back inand all working again
