I did a test using fresh forky/testing with kernel 6.18.12, still no firewire disk access. I'm attaching the dmesg from that test, as well as the "lspci -vvv" of the firewire hardware on my Macbook5,2, obtained while in the working 6.1.162.
At the tail end of the dmesg, there are some firewire_sbp2 status messages that look like it's trying and failing to connect. I plugged in the drives at time 97.
This is all really beyond my expertise, but if someone wants me to provide some diagnostic reports, just tell me what to do. I want to get my disks working with the new firewire subsystem in 6.18 as much as anyone.Thanks.
