U2U Nvidia Support • Black screen after installing NVIDIA .run driver (RTX 5070, Debian Trixie + backports kernel)

Hi everyone,

I’m having trouble getting NVIDIA drivers working on Debian 13 (trixie). I installed the latest kernel from backports, but I still cannot get any display output properly.
Hardware: GeForce RTX 5070.
OS: Debian trixie (latest kernel (6.18.5) installed from backports)

What I did:
Installed the latest backports kernel. Downloaded and installed the proprietary NVIDIA driver using the official NVIDIA website (NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-580.126.18.run) installer and rebooted the system.

Current situation: shows that nouveau is not loaded but nvidia modules are. Display manager (Lightdm/gdm) does not start. On boot I get a blank screen with a blinking cursor at the top.
