Hello Friends

Consider this post only as a curious situation (or simple inquiry)

For old hardware about

  • cellphones

  • tablets

  • ipads

Any of them reaches some point where the OS itself can't be upgraded anymore and either is mandatory buy a new one or keep use it with old apps. Even if you or any member of your family have the hardware in perfect conditions sadly it is blocked in someway

I arrived to

I know there are a good amount of mobile devices with their own limitations. Therefore I am assuming it is the reason of the current size of the list devices shown

The ideal scenario is install Debian as GUI in any mobile device to run the minimum set of apps such as

  • Web Browser

  • Office Tools (Lets assume LibreOffice releases one for Linux)

  • PDF

I am not sure if it is the correct place because I don't if the Mobian's team read this section of the forum, but

  • Would have sense for the Mobian's team create an alternative branch of Debian as only Terminal for these kind of devices?

It with the purpose to adopt (or expand) a wide branch of mobile devices

Just to clarify, for Debian as only Terminal, I meant for example

  • The complete screen is a Terminal (with the options to customize the colors and show a virtual keyboard such as WhatsApp)

  • Run bash

  • Run tmux

  • Run w3m

  • Support for Wifi and Bluetooh to connect with either a SmartTV or wireless keyboard (in case the virtual keyboard is not possible)

  • Support for SSH as client

Question

  • Does the Debian as only Terminal have sense for Mobian?

Therefore if the mobile device can be a client would be great

Thanks for your understanding
