What are the pros and cons of nouveau / 580 / 550 ?
Mainly, I use the XFCE system from the an xterm command-line, for Firefox, gimp, emacs, VLC, LibreOffice ... no gaming ... no video editing (yet, but probably in the future)
I've old hardware. A Dell T5500 workstation with a Quadro K620 card and a HDMI cabled 43" 4k Samsung monitor.
XFCE > About says the windowing system is X11 (I was expecting it to say Wayland, but I'm happy with X11)
During a fresh install of Trixie 13.3, the process automatically chose nouveau. It's what is running now.
nvidia.com says the latest driver to support my K620 Maxwell card is the 580.
Alternatively, the Debian package at the moment has 550, I believe.
