The demand on power and other utilities is quite real and measurable. My own power for my miniature DC is staggering to the point I'm considering using Desktop Raid arrays rather than the overbuilt servers in the office. Water is also cresting a bit high considering the filter and "conservation" devices for laundry.
AI is getting the brunt of the anger, and they deserve it for being gobblers, but the other side of that anger should be focused on legislation and corporate greed on an aged infrastructure. Between the 3 something has to give.
