General Questions • Re: [Solved] where does the console get its keyboard layout from?

then @fabien there are two bugs
  1. The inability for xkb to properly set the console to the pt (macintosh) layout when MacBook79 keyboard is selected
  2. The inability for loadkeys find the correct layout because console-data is broken for macintosh layouts (at least)
From my limited understanding console-data is kind of obsolete, not installed by default and xkb is the prefered method

both are "fixable"
  1. By symlinking the pt layout inside macintosh_vndr to the main pt layout /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/pt
  2. By downloading the console-data from upstream and "installing" the layouts
