Apologies if the RSS feeds are cluttering your feeds, they should not via RSS but can clog active topics. That feature has been disabled in the feeds forums but whenever a new source is added it downloads the entire feed.
There really is not an ideal solution from phpBB other than marking that forum as not active for the 'active posts' buttons, but the feeds still creep in. If so, mark the forums read (upper right hand side for most themes). This should only happen when new feeds are added.
