Hardware • No audio output device for DisplayPort/HDMI

I just got an Optiplex XE3 to use as a Linux HTPC. It has an 8th gen i7 and two DP++ ports, but no HDMI. I connected it to my TV via a DP-to-HDMI cable and did a fresh Bookworm installation with Xfce. Now I can't seem to get audio via the DP/HDMI connection. In PulseAudio Volume Control, the only Output Device is "Built-in Audio Analog Stereo" and sound comes out of the built-in speaker. I tried installing firmware-intel-sound and rebooting and that didn't help. For what it's worth, the DP to HDMI cable is Monoprice and the description says it transmits audio.

Any suggestions? Would I have better luck if I exchanged this PC for a similar one with an HDMI port?
