to provide a bit more context, I would like to build a device specific, minimal image, that I can reuse later to reflash that specific device, and can then add on the rest of the environment later, could be a plasma flavour, could be LXQT, could be gnome or phosh.
So basically I want the minimum that will boot and get onto a network (using a USB to ethernet adapter) and that is ready to do something like apt-get install [whatever desktop].
I mess about with different desktops a lot and I'm constantly rebuilding it, so a device specific minimal image that I can just dd onto the disk is huge timesaver.
