I'm on a fresh install of Bookworm. /usr/sbin/poweroff run as regular user does turn off the machine.Concerning the permissions and path points raised here, there is another angle. I don't think 'poweroff' actually requires root. The executable just happens to be outside the default search path. And no, don't add /sbin to a standard users path! However if a regular user simply spells out the complete path it will execute. It would be nice to hear if this works for others. My systems have been continuously tweaked for generations and never reinstalled so I may have lost track!
