Things have been running very smoothly with the remasterized Sid live usb, thus I decided to do the upgrade on an installed system*. Looks easy and straightforward, but, believe me, this is no small feat! Again, thanks a whole lot to those who make this happen!#screenshot showing Sid running 6.11 Linux kernel and GNOME 47#
I am not too concerned about kernel upgrade, but GNOME upgrade could cause incompatibility with extensions. So far, so knock-on-wood!
Ubuntu 24.10 was announced today to include kernel 6.11, but there is no smooth upgrading path from the 24.04 LTS to 24.10. From my experience, Ubuntu 24.04 users will eventually get to upgrade to the 6.11 kernel via the hwe path, but I don't think the hwe kernel is covered under the LTS (???)
*Actually I have been using the remasterized Sid live usb, without persistence, to do daily chores for quite some time now. But it is still an obligatory thing to do the upgrade on the installed system.
