journalctl --no-pager -n 100

I tried that and it only goes back to when the system rebooted.

And I checked again this morning as the hard drive was going nuts again last night but nothing is in the logs.

I assume (I could be wrong) that MySQL would have its own logs that may show some light into this. (As I think it may be something to do with MySQL as my apps do not use the hard drive to store data everything is loaded from disk to a RAM disk)
