Are you sure, that it is Debian problem and not DropBox problem?
Have you installed all required and recommended software (by dropbox_2024.04.17_amd64.deb)?
BTW: Do you know, that there is Debian's Dropbox integration for Nautilus?

I suppose the problem is in the Gnome desktop because it works fine Under KDE Plasma; when I modify or add a file in the boxdrop folder I can see it syncs correctly.
Also, I installed the right version.
