It may well be that it'll work with just the updated kernel, which can be installed from Backports. Here are a couple of discussions of the issue. In both it is pointed out that the delay in security updates is probably not an issue if the computer is not public facing/exposed to the internet.Ok, it works with kernel 6.8, which has audio packages of version 1.* (while they are 0.* in my case) and gnome version 1.44 (mine is 1.43). I tried to install the new audio packages from the backports, but gnome 1.44 isn't on backports and 1.43 depends on the old ones (i.e. i remain without graphical interface if i try to update those packages).
What do you suggest me to do? Should i switch to kernel 6.8? Is it a good idea, seeing that only 6.1 and 6.6 are LTS while others have a short life? And if i switch to a non-LTS kernel, should i periodically update to the newest one, or is it safe to keep it?
