General Questions • Re: [Solved] update-grub fails (use rEFInd instead!)

There are many paths through the forest. I like the Grub custom.cfg method; that's why I use it. rEFInd also works nicely, though, and has the virtue of being well documented in one place.
To each his own of course but I find grub to be the very paradigm example of impenetrable bloatware. When I moved from LILO (which served me perfectly for 15 years) I bit the bullet and got used to the idea that I'd have to endure grub -- but it kept throwing errors at me that nobody could figure out. Then I found rEFInd which can actually be understood and as a small bonus, seems to actually work. I don't know why I'd use anything else. I was told not to but I uninstalled grub, and removed every trace of it that I could find.
