So I tried to do the commands in ~/.profile in two experiemental runs.

1. Input and save the commands at the bottom of ~/.profile with the "exec" keyword prepended
2. Input and save the commands at the bottom of ~/.profile without the "exec" keyword prepended

The results are as follows:
1. Upon successful login of my regular username, the prompt to login fails, presenting the login prompt again. This repeated until I logged in as root and removed the "exec" keyword from my xinput commands in ~/.profile under my normal user account.
2. At the login screen, the following two notices read before the login prompt for my username and password are as follows:

Code:

Cannot connect to X serverCannot connect to X server
Upon logging in and starting the X server anyway, my desktop experience remains unchanged, with no effect applied to anything including my peripheral device. It is like I never inputted the commands in ~/.profile at all.

After which, I deleted the xinput commands from my ~/.profile, reverting to the previous state my system was at prior to applying the xinput commands to ~/.profile.
